Since the 1950s, the intense light of Provence has drawn artists to Lacoste – first from Scandinavia, later from all over the world. This gave rise to an artists' colony, out of which the collective ART LACOSTE formed in 2009.
This long artistic tradition and the open-mindedness of Lacoste’s artists inspired the Bob and Kathrin Gysin Foundation to organize an exhibition featuring Curt Asker (1930–2015), Inge Boesken Kanold (b. 1939), and Lotti Ringström (b. 1942). The exhibition was created in close collaboration with the two female artists.
The Galerie Privée, founded by Bob Gysin, thus offers, for the second time, an opportunity to view locally produced art from Lacoste outside the usual setting – following last year's exhibition by Peter Somm (1940–2023).
