Our project «Kapla» project was awarded second place in the competition to expand the Galgenen school complex.
The concept envisages two compact structures that blend harmoniously into the existing school site and create spacious, differentiated outdoor areas with a high quality of life and biodiversity.
Like the Kapla game, the prefabricated wooden buildings are based on a flexible and easily expandable system. The main building can therefore accommodate a wide variety of teaching formats – from clusters and the Rue Intérieure to large-scale learning landscapes. The pavilion offers multifunctional use, from lunch tables and a singing hall to events and exhibitions.
The hybrid form of element and modular construction relies on joined rather than glued connections – a constructive contribution to recyclability. The low-tech concept and the absence of an underground car park further reduce the CO₂ footprint.
