Our Mettenweg residence in Stans was awarded first prize in the Healing Architecture Award at the Best of Architecture Summit 2025 in Munich.
The jury praised the project, saying: "The project impresses with its subtle integration of the design into the rural context and its sensitive approach to the different spatial needs of the residents.
The five-storey building offers a home to people with cognitive, mental or physical impairments in eight residential care groups. The timber construction draws on local building traditions and high-quality craftsmanship. Instead of classic corridors, attractive circular walkways, communal areas and a “filter area” encourage interaction and create gentle transitions between public and private spaces."
The Healing Architecture Award recognises outstanding architecture and interior design projects in the healthcare sector. Around 600 architects, interior designers and planners attended the award ceremony at Macherei Munich on 9 October.
