1997 Winner - Landolf residence
The Schweizer Küchenverband KVS's “Good Kitchen“ award honours innovative kitchens which are outstanding in both design and construction. In the last few years the modern kitchen has rediscovered one of its older functions: Although kitchens developed into high-tech spaces in the 1970s and 80s, by the 1990s they once again became places to meet, and thus became a social part of any residence.
The kitchen in the Landolf residence was honoured for the quality of detailing and construction, as well as its flexibility in use. When closed, translucent sliding wall panels transform the kitchen into a shimmering cube of light that creates a special ambience in the living area outside the kitchen. When the walls are open, the kitchen reveals its inner workings, which consist of simple and clear lines, and high quality surfaces.
