Denkraum: Are we barking up the wrong tree? – Construction materials under the sportlight

Wood stands like no other building material for sustainable construction – CO₂-storing, renewable, versatile. Yet looking at practice shows: reality is complex. The reality is complex. Wood is a limited resource – a large proportion of construction timber is already imported today – and depending on the construction task and urban planning requirements, other materials may be more ecologically sound.

What does this mean for planning practice? Where are the limits and potentials of wood – not only from a technical, but also from a design perspective?

Join the discussion:
Experts from design, planning and applied research present positions, reflect on building culture and examine the material wood in various contexts. After the input presentations, an open discussion round follows in the plenary.
